Improvement initiatives in recent years have now culminated with the Hadleigh Gateway plan and with the Olympics Mountain bike venue constructed for the 2012 Olympics the town centre which has one of the main road arteries – A13 between Southend-on-Sea and London running right through the middle of it has become –
“Just a main thoroughfare”
Hadleigh Essex is NOT just a route from A to B; the town centre is surrounded by a wealth of history such as:-
- Hadleigh Castle with its stunning views over the Thames estuary build around the time of King Henry III circa 1215 from which the Canary Wharf towers – 30 miles away can easily be seen
- This castle was also a subject of a painting by One of England greatest painters - John Constable
- The Salvation Army Farm Colony established in 1891 by General Booth. The farm has a rare breeds centre and café that has the most breath taking views across the Thames estuary
